Text message opt-in

Bana Systems runs the online estimate tool roofing contractors give to homeowners. This page shows how a homeowner agrees to receive text messages through it, exactly what they agree to, and how they stop. The tool itself is reached through a link a contractor sends, so it is reproduced here.

Where the opt-in happens

On the contact-details step of the estimate form, after the homeowner has entered a mobile number, a checkbox appears beneath it. It is unticked until the homeowner ticks it, and the form can be completed without ticking it: agreeing is not required for the estimate or for any purchase. The box does not appear at all until a number has been entered, and clearing the number clears the tick.

So Example Roofing Co. can reach you about this roof.

I agree that Example Roofing Co. may send me text messages about my roof estimate at the number above. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

The checkbox on the estimate form, shown for a contractor named Example Roofing Co. It is unticked by default.

The exact wording

The sentence beside the checkbox is the following, with the contractor's own business name in place of the bracketed part:

I agree that [contractor name] may send me text messages about my roof estimate at the number above. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

The wording is served by our server and stored, word for word, with the homeowner's answer, the time and the address it came from. A homeowner who leaves the box unticked is recorded as having declined, and is never texted.

What is sent

Only messages about the estimate the homeowner asked for: that it is ready, with a link to view it. Each message names the contractor it is from. No marketing or promotional messages are sent. Message frequency varies, usually one or two per estimate.

Stopping and help

Message and data rates may apply. Mobile numbers and consent are not sold or shared with anyone for their marketing. See the privacy policy and the terms of service.
